MAYSVILLE -- Gerald Hickerson Sr., 77, of Maysville, died Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was the widower of Shirley Ann Hickerson, who died April 6, 2014.

Mr. Hickerson was engaged in farming and also worked for The Ledger Independent. He served in the US Army Reserves and was a graduate of the May’s Lick High School and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Union Church.

He was born in May’s Lick on Aug. 18, 1939, the son of the late Ollie Fant Hickerson and Marguerite Conrad Hickerson.

He is survived by his son, Gerald Hickerson Jr. (Bonnie) of Maysville; daughter, Cindy Knox (Dave) of Cold Spring; grandchildren, Darren Hickerson (Lauren), Lincoln Knox and Mylee Knox; great-grandchild, Wyatt Hickerson; sisters, Norma Jean Erny (Bob) of Wilmore, and Nina Pearl Waizenhofer (Frank) of Frankfort.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Earl Hickerson; brother, Charles Hickerson; and sister, Sue Carol Hickerson.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in the the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Bare officiating.

Burial will be in the Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. to one hour until the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
