LONGTIME CATERPILLAR WORKER LOVED DUCK HUNTING, FISHING

WASHINGTON, IL - Raymond E. Snyder, 94, of Washington died at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

Born Dec. 18, 1915, in Middletown, a son of Walter and Mae Gilkison Snyder, he married Eileen H. Schroeder on May 14, 1936, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Raymond Gene (Virginia) Snyder of Peoria and Gary Lee (Mary) Snyder of Kenosha, Wis.; five grandchildren, Mark and Scott Snyder, Kim (Mike) Johnson, and Cori and Rachel Snyder; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard "Bud" Snyder of New Holland; and one sister, Catherine Hitchell of Washington.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters and an infant granddaughter.

He was employed by Caterpillar Inc. for 44 years, retiring in 1980.

Ray was an avid fisherman and hunter. He always said his favorite time of year was duck hunting season.

Services will be at 12 noon Monday, March 29, 2010, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria, where visitation will be one hour prior. The Rev. Howard Love will officiate. Burial will take place in Richmond Grove Cemetery in New Holland.
