Mr. Hagar "Lee" May, age 89, of Garrison, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday evening, December 16, 2014, at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

He was born May 11, 1925, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of the late George and Ollie Hurst May.

Lee proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and worked as a laborer in the Carpenters Union Local 437. He was a member of Wrights Chapel Church for 40 years and enjoyed going to church, going to stock markets, farming, and visiting with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Christine Adkins May and Emma Etta Fannin May; one son, Rick May; two daughters, Loretta May and Shirley Bennett; four brothers, James May, Elmo May, Marvin May, and Billy Joe May; and four sisters, Helen McCarty, Lucy Bevins, Lorraine Bevins, and Margie Weddington.

Lee is survived by his wife of 47 years, Juanita Ervin May; three sons and daughters-in-law, James David and Linda May of Valdosta, Georgia, Mike and Annette Sparks of Garrison, Kentucky, and Perry and Doreen May of Piedmont, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Tim Smith of Ashland, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Norma May of Sycamore, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison, Kentucky, with Brother Mike Simpson and Brother Clarence Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Waring Cemetery in Garrison, Kentucky, with full military honors presented by the Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post No. 5438.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014, and until the service hour on Friday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue, Garrison, Kentucky 41141.

David May, Mike Sparks, Perry May, Bryant Jamison, Lonnie Ervin, and Ray Ervin will serve as pallbearers.
