NEW CASTLE--Russell "Leroy" Brammer, 76, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at his home. He was born Augsut 2, 1935 in Knightstown, a son of the late Russell and Enid (Harris) Brammer. Leroy was a 1954 graduate of Royerton High School. He served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He managed Fisher Properties of Indiana Inc., North Bend Farm in Switzerland County for 35 years. He was a member of the Springport Christian Church, Switzerland County 4-H fair board, Switzerland County school board, Switzerland County Soil Conservation Board and Indiana Pork Producers Board. He served on the first Soy Diesel Board. He received a Master Farmer Award from Prairie Farmer, Soy Diesel Pioneer Award and Purdue Agricultural Alumni Association Certificate of Distinction. He loved his family very much and always supported his children in their activities and when he was able, loved to watch any activities his grandchildren were in . He is survived by his best friend and wife of 55 years, Deanna (Mueller) Brammer; a daughter, Samantha (husband-Wayne) Jacobs of New Castle; a son, Brian (wife-Christine) Brammer of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Stephanie and William Jacobs and Katie and Jack Brammer; a brother, Richard (wife-Verna) Brammer of Palmetto, FL; one aunt and uncle; one niece and nephew, and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Brammer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Springport Christian Church with Chaplain Phil Crofford. Burial will follow in Springport Woodlawn Christian Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springport Christian Church, Ball Hospital Hospice, or the charity of donor's choice.
